Amigos Unidos sends shoes, clothing, school supplies, medical supplies, beauty supplies, nonperishable food, and toys to families in Venezuela, and Bogotá, Boyacá, Guapi, Colombia. In addition, Amigos Unidos has been providing water tanks to families to collect rainwater. In Guapi, there isn’t a working water utility so water is scarce. Fortunately, it rains a lot there. Therefore, people collect water from their roofs and use the water tanks to store water. The rainwater isn’t perfectly clean, but the abundant rain keeps the water in fairly good condition and provides clean water.

| VENEZUELA, officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a country on the northern coast of South America and is bordered to the north by the Caribbean, to the east by Guyana and the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by Brazil, and to the west and southwest by Colombia. Along its Caribbean coast are tropical resort islands including Isla de Margarita and the Los Roques archipelago. To the northwest are the Andes Mountains and the colonial town of Mérida. Caracas is the capital. Venezuela is located above the equator and has a generally humid and warm climate. The temperature range is between 26°C /79°F, and 28°C / 82°F. However, in the mountainous Andean regions it is significantly cooler, and temperatures can drop to 9°C /48°F. Lightweight cotton clothes and jeans are suitable to wear in most locations, whether in the lowlands or on the coast. However, it gets cold in the Andes so people wear sweaters and jackets there. |
| COLOMBIA, officially the Republic of Colombia, is a country mostly in South America with insular regions in North America. The Colombian mainland is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the north, Venezuela to the east and northeast, Brazil to the southeast, Ecuador, and Peru to the south and southwest, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and Panama to the northwest. Bogotá is the capital. Colombia’s weather offers all four seasons. The topographical diversity of Colombia offers snowy mountain peaks, warm Caribbean beaches, and a rainy tropical rainforest. Bogotá is situated in the Eastern Andes region and the weather is generally spring-like. Although sunny days can still get quite hot, there are many cool days and nights. The average high temperature throughout the year hovers around 20°C /68°F.Generally, Colombia’s weather requires light clothing suitable for warm to hot weather. However, in areas near the Andes such as Bogotá, people wear long shirts, pants, coats, and boots as well. |
